The Senate rolls up its sleeves and wants to end the outdoor pool chaos with ID checks and video surveillance. Well intended is not always well done.

The data protection officer is still on the mat on the day the controls are introduced. Their examination not only raises questions about the feasibility of the security measures, but also raises doubts about the assertiveness of the Senate.

How quickly can politicians react to the incidents with legal certainty? Data protection must not become an excuse for inaction.

It’s time to put people’s security ahead of their data-gathering frenzy. This is the only way swimming pools can become a safe place again.
