Berlin incidence rises above the 1000 mark again to 1085.4

The corona incidence in Berlin has now increased after the downward trend of the past few days. The value was 1085.4 on Saturday, according to the Senate situation report. The day before the incidence was 977, on Thursday 1118.

The incidence indicates how many people per 100,000 inhabitants have been shown to have been newly infected with the corona virus in the past seven days.

11,424 new corona infections (previous day: 11,531) were registered in Berlin on Saturday. The total number is 689,728. There were seven other deaths. 4,212 people have died in Berlin since the beginning of the pandemic from or with the disease caused by the pathogen.

Not all cases count anymore

However: According to his observation, hardly anyone takes the corona incidence seriously anymore, said Reinickendorf’s medical officer Patrick Larscheid in the RBB evening show on Tuesday evening. “Due to the changed test regulation, certain cases no longer count the way we used to count them.”

The federal government’s new test strategy has been in effect since February 12 (last Saturday). The following applies: Anyone who wants to have a free PCR test done can only do so if an antigen rapid test previously carried out by a test center was positive.

Anyone who has a red warning in the Corona-Warn-App or has carried out a test with a positive result at home is no longer entitled to a free PCR test. But only PCR tests are included in the statistics.

The medical officer in Berlin-Mitte, Lukas Murajda, said the absolute numbers were not realistic. “I think there is a large number of unreported cases,” said Murajda on RBB Inforadio (Wednesday). But the trend fits. The peak of the pandemic has been reached. “It’s only a matter of time before it goes down.”

The situation in the districts

Eleven districts submitted current figures on Saturday – only Reinickendorf did not report. Treptow-Köpenick reported 4997 new cases after the district had not reported several times in the past few days.

The new infections are followed by Lichtenberg (+1179), Steglitz-Zehlendorf (+963), Marzahn-Hellersdorf (+836) and Mitte (+658).

Tempelhof-Schöneberg (+261) and Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg (+451) reported the fewest new cases.

► With the seven-day incidence, eight Berlin districts are currently between 1000 and 2000: Lichtenberg is the highest with 1522.2.

Four districts report three-digit numbers: Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf (776), Neukölln (782), Tempelhof-Schoeneberg (847) and Reinickendorf (921).

The status of vaccinations

72.7 percent (previous day: 72.7 percent) of Berliners are fully vaccinated. 77.3 percent (previous day: 77.3 percent) have been vaccinated at least once. A total of 7,591,367 vaccinations were administered.

The Corona traffic light

In order to include a more meaningful indicator in the Corona traffic light, the relative change in the seven-day incidence was replaced by the hospitalization incidence. The seven-day incidence and the occupancy of the intensive care beds remain unchanged.

According to the management report, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants – equivalent to the seven-day incidence for all of Berlin – is 1085.4 (previous day: 1034.4) – the traffic light is RED.

The seven-day hospitalization incidence is 23.1 (previous day: 24.8) – the traffic light is RED.

This indicator shows how many people per 100,000 inhabitants were hospitalized after a corona infection within a week. The indicator is green when the value is below 4. From 4 the traffic light switches to yellow, at 8 to red.

The utilization of the intensive care beds by corona patients is 15.3 percent (previous day: 15.3 percent) – the traffic light is YELLOW.

The yellow limit here is 5 percent, and this traffic light also turns red at 20 percent.
