The first CDU politician demands: Criminalize climate chaos squads!
After a climate blockade last week, a cyclist is brain dead. The Berlin CDU around party leader Kai Wegner (50) is now calling in a paper (exclusively available to BZ) to make the vandalism actions of the climate stickers (damaging art, bombing party headquarters with paint, blocking streets) punishable as a whole.
Other constitutional means are also up for debate, such as preventive police custody. This means that if the police find out that the chaotic people are planning an action, they can arrest people in advance. Even without the crime having happened before.
The next hammer: A separate SOKO is to be founded, which deals specifically with the topic of climate chaos. But that only works if they are classified as a criminal organization.
Kai Wegner to BILD: “This is no longer a game or a protest. Cultural centers and democratic institutions are attacked here and human lives are deliberately put at risk. At the latest, the Governing Mayor Giffey must finally act. The police must act with all severity against these radicals. And the judiciary must finally exhaust all its legal resources.”
Current figures for climate adhesives
▶ The Berlin police have so far worked 130,000 hours because of the climate stickers.
▶ In 18 cases, ambulances got stuck in air traffic jams.
▶ There are 729 proceedings, 1900 complaints have been written and 241 penal orders issued.
▶ The only person convicted so far is a 21-year-old activist who was sentenced by the Tiergarten district court to 30 daily rates of 20 euros each for coercion. The court in its verdict: “You behaved absolutely anti-democratically”.
