On the way to successfully defending their title in the German volleyball league, the Berlin Recycling Volleys will initially face TSV Giesen in the playoffs. The league announced this on Friday.
The pairings were formed using a quotient rule because the last remaining game of the regular season between United Volleys Frankfurt and SWD powervolleys Düren can no longer take place “within the agreed schedule”.
“Starting the play-offs as planned and playing them in regular mode was always the premise of all game planning decisions in the current season,” said VBL Managing Director Julia Retzlaff.
Berlin, which finished the main round in first place, has to deal with the eighth-placed team from Düren. The quarter-finals will be played in “best of three” format, the first duel on March 13 (5:30 p.m.) in Berlin. From the semifinals, the “best of five” mode will be used.
