Sandhausen (dpa) – The relegation-threatened second division soccer team SV Sandhausen has signed Erich Berko from the leaders of the table Darmstadt 98.
The 27-year-old should increase the goal risk of the sixteenth-placed player: “After the departure of Christian Conteh, we have now signed Erich Berko, a second-division-experienced winger who closes this gap,” said Sandhausen coach Alois Schwartz in a club statement.
Berko has made twelve league appearances for Darmstadt this season. “Since we couldn’t guarantee him a sporting future beyond the summer with regard to his expiring contract and the economic conditions are right for us, we didn’t put any obstacles in his way and agreed to the change,” explained Darmstadt’s sporting director Carsten Wehlmann .
In addition, Sandhausen committed offensive player Maurice Deville (29) from the third division 1. FC Saarbrücken. Gianluca Gaudino is loaned to the Austrian first division club SCR Altach. The 25-year-old midfielder came to Hardtwald from the Swiss first division club Young Boys Bern last summer, but only made six appearances in the first half of the season, also due to injuries and a positive corona finding.
