Berkis – Lamb knuckle just like on vacation

Blind date meeting point Winterfeldtplatz in Schönberg. Good choice, because the number of restaurants there is so high that you can’t go wrong if you don’t know each other yet.

So we stroll off chatting and find out that we both like Greek. Perfect, the best around is Berkis. Nothing comes out of a can here, everything is freshly cooked, that’s the promise.

The last time I was here was a few years ago and I completely convinced a skeptic of the kitchen, so that shortly afterwards he flew on his first holiday in Greece! This time, too, the menu of the small Cretan restaurant sounds so delicious that I can hardly decide.

I finally take the dish of the day: lamb knuckle in red wine sauce with rice noodles (15.50 euros) and feel like I’m on my favorite island: at home! HE takes the classic grill plate (11.50 euros) and raves about the juicy meat. The open wines (white cuvée 4.90 euros/0.2 l, red Agiorgitiko 5.30 euros/0.2 l) cannot be compared with the usual house wines.

It’s just a pity: my plate is so rich that I can no longer manage any of the tempting-sounding desserts.
