Bergzeit launches second-hand platform for outdoor clothing

The Upper Bavarian online retailer for outdoor equipment, Bergzeit, has also been active in the second-hand market since June 1st. Outdoor enthusiasts can now get well-preserved and fully functional outdoor clothing from the online shop ‘Bergzeit RE-USE’, which was launched especially for this purpose. Second-hand shoes and outdoor gear are expected to be added later in 2022.

Customers can send in used products

The concept behind “Bergzeit RE-USE” is simple: Customers can register used outdoor clothing from almost all brands available on the market in the online portal and send it in free of charge. It doesn’t matter where the clothing was bought. Items are checked and forwarded based on functionality and condition. If the clothing is broken, it will be recycled or donated after consultation with the customer. Products that are in good condition, on the other hand, are processed and offered for sale in the second-hand shop. In addition, outdoor enthusiasts will also find returned and returned goods from the Bergzeit online shop on the digital sales platform. To do this, Bergzeit works with the experienced Berlin re-commerce service reverse.supply.

part of the sustainability strategy

“Bergzeit RE-USE” is part of Bergzeit’s sustainability strategy and also a new business field. “We have operated successfully in recent years and can and must afford to see sustainability as a top priority. That is why we are increasingly concerned with the question of how to extend the service life of the products and are working on further steps in this direction. One possibility is, for example, to offer the repair of products via our platform,” says Martin Stolzenberger, Bergzeit Managing Director.

For “Bergzeit RE-USE”, Bergzeit, which also has two branches in the south of Munich, made targeted investments in new employees who will oversee and further develop the project. “In my view, it is essential that we spend more resources to get real, sustainable change going, it doesn’t happen by itself. We are happy to have created such a concrete basis,” says Stolzenberger.

Recently: Bergzeit started as a travel agent

Just a few weeks ago, the company announced another premiere: Customers can now book trips with Bergzeit via the “Bergzeit Erlebnis” platform. Over 150 trips, tours and course offers for 2022 are currently available. Bergzeit focuses on tours in the Alps and the countries of Germany, Austria and Italy. The offers range from hut weekends, MTB technique courses to slackline and climbing trips.

Since 2012, Bergzeit GmbH has belonged to SüdtirolerSportler AG.
