The taxi driver dispute at BER. A comment by Andreas Vollbrechtshausen.

License or No License. That is the big problem with the BER taxi drivers. Those with a license to pick up passengers wait patiently for orders – those without (“Klauer” in taxi jargon), on the other hand, go directly to the terminal to look for customers.

In contrast, the taxi guild demonstrated last Wednesday, and the situation escalated: Unknown people hit a licensed car, insulted and threatened the driver. The guild reacted immediately: If this continues, they will no longer send a car to BER.

Because up to now the problem has been treated in the typical Berlin way: appease, look the other way, sit out. But after this attack, the airport company promised to put a stop to the thieves by making changes in front of the terminal.

May this announcement now be followed by action.
