Benzema catches up with Lewandowski

Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema has closed the gap to Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski in the all-time Champions League goalscoring chart. In the 3: 4 (1: 2) defeat in the semi-final first leg at Manchester City, Benzema scored a brace for the “Royal”.

With his goals, the Frenchman increased his personal goal tally to 85. He is only one goal behind Lewandowski (86), who failed with Munich in the quarter-finals.

Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo continues to lead the rankings with 140 goals. Argentinian Lionel Messi (125) from new French champion Paris St. Germain is in second place. Both players were eliminated with their teams in the round of 16.
