The textile keeps the clay layer compact and is easier to process than loose, impermeable clay that has been used until now and has to be brought in from elsewhere. “It is placed in the dike as an intermediate layer,” explains director Jos Teeuwen of the Limburg Water Board on L1 Radio. “It’s a trial now, we’ll see how it holds up in the coming years.”
