News: He worked with Romina Yan. How do you remember her?
Red: I have the best memories of her. She was like an older sister, she helped me. I was getting to know a new world and she was very simple, funny, humble. We are talking about a person who was the daughter of Gustavo Yankelevich and Cris Morena. However, she was very simple, very kind and I had a very nice connection. She always made me a cake for my birthday. When we were recording, she would meet me in the studio and give it to me, but well, when not, she would always call me and tell me, “I have your cake, come get it or I’ll bring it to you.” She continued with that beautiful gesture and it is something that I will never forget. It’s beautiful because she talks about someone who was not circumstantial at work, but afterward we continued to have a friendly relationship.
News: Television, theater, tours, cinema, there was no time to rest…
Red: Everything was amazing. It is the world Cris, very successful and professional. I am also grateful that I started there because It gave me this thing of respect for work, respect for others, being attentive to punctuality. The clarity; When you have to work, you work and then, when you have to rest, you rest.
News: Is Cris Morena very demanding at work?
Red: I don’t know if that’s the word. It is teaching you to value your place. We are privileged, there are many actors, many, and very few places. So, you have that chair waiting for you and you have to occupy it. I think the medium is like that.
News: With so much success abroad, have you ever thought of settling in another country?
Red: I had two opportunities. One in Mexico to do “Floricienta” again. She was 18 years old and had no desire to continue with the same character that she had already represented. At 21 I was invited to Spain to participate in “Dancing with the Stars” or “Look Who’s Dancing!”, I don’t remember which one, but it meant doing three months of the season and I already had a contract signed with Telefé for “Alma pirate” and I went for that character. It was my chance to star and it turned out very well, we won the Martin Fierro.
News: Did you ever hesitate to continue being an actor?
Red: That question comes to you all the time. When the phone doesn’t ring or when a project doesn’t have the result you expect. But the artist is like that, he reinvents himself and is permanently in creation and searching. It is always natural for one to question oneself. I think doing so also consolidates continuing to walk.
News: Is it true that one of your most difficult castings was with your partner?
Red: (laughs) Well, it wasn’t a casting, but it was difficult for me because she came from a relationship and didn’t want to know anything. I went to the conquest and at first it was all little by little. We have been together for 12 years and we complete the family with the arrival of Rita, our daughter.
News: Tell me about that.
Red: Our daughter was born eight months ago and was in neonatology. It is something that has marked us because we had to do something like a semi-emergency delivery. The neonatology team at Sanatorio Los Arcos treated us ten times because, being first-time parents, we were very afraid. We spent Christmas and New Year’s there and it strengthened us to go through such an experience.
News: In addition, they share a pastry business
Red: Martina is very talented, she is constantly thinking of new recipes, innovating. It is a specialty cake, like coffee, in a place with a very nice energy. I’m going to collaborate, they call me because something broke, I go with a screwdriver, sometimes I break it more and other times I fix it. I’m a maintenance worker (laughs). When I arrive I always take a photo with clients or stay talking to people.
News: Did you have a problem there with a fan?
Red: Yes, there was an unpleasant episode with someone who went, kicked the door of the business and attacked Martina, but it has already been corrected.
News: Where do you feel like a fish in water?
Red: Recently I realized that in the theater it is a place where I physically feel loose, because the stage is a large space, the lights go out and the audience belongs to the actor. He has something alive and works with his whole body. I performed with a fever, because you don’t want to stop getting on stage. I feel that it is where we handle ourselves with greater freedom, with the commitment to the project, but with scenic freedom.
News: How do you get along with Nicolás Vázquez?
Red: From 10! We still see each other, we are friends. We have a brotherhood with Nico and Gime (Accardi), but with him we have a special union and we made a beautiful duo. I hope we work together again.
News: If you weren’t an actor, what other profession would you have chosen?
Red: I don’t know if it would be useful for anything else. I don’t know what it could have been because I started very young. It’s a good question, but I don’t know how to answer it.
News: Likes to travel?
Red: Yes, a trip nourishes you and takes you out of the capsule. It is such a varied world and the human race is so different. Having the possibility or the privilege at some point in your life to be able to save a penny and travel is an investment because you learn from other totally different idiosyncrasies and you understand that the world is made up of many very complex things.
News: What do you think of the general situation we are experiencing in the country?
Red: There is tension and I always try to ensure that things are resolved peacefully, with dialogue, that there is no confrontation between people. I think that made us very bad. There has to be unity. Just as the politicians said, national unity, well, also union between us. That we tolerate things from each other. That’s why I like the work I’m doing since it asks what one would do if, due to a certain circumstance, they knew someone else’s secrets. Do you continue to tolerate him despite not agreeing with his ideology? I would love for us to be more tolerant of each other.
News: Would you like to leave that legacy to Rita?
Red: Yes. I learn a lot from her. Children are born with virtues such as tolerance. The problem is when we grow up and become addicted to things, but children have an innocence and tolerance in which they accept everything that is different.
News: He has an ageless face, how do you imagine he is old?
Red: Accompanied, I always liked being accompanied. I demand a lot of company. Around there, I ask: “Where are you going?”, “Can I go with you?” Martu, my wife is my life partner and I always want to be by her side. I think she is part of love, although sometimes I seem kind of annoying.
