On October 3, 2025, literature and music meet in the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie as part of the Harbor Front Literature Festival to pay tribute to one of the most formative German artists: Udo Lindenberg, who will celebrate his 80th birthday in May 2026.
A tribute to Udo Lindenberg
Under the title “preheating”, the writer and journalist Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre and the musician Jan Delay design an evening to be fully dedicated to Lindenberg. The organizers describe him as “an evening with songs and texts by Udo – and of course with texts about him”.
Both are closely connected to Lindenberg. Stuckrad-Barre recently published “Udo Fröhliche! The Lindenberg lexicon from alcohol to cigar”, a homage in book form. Jan Delay describes him as the reason to have started at all. “We learned, write and sing through Udo’s songs and above all through his texts – and everything about love, the nights and celebrations. In short: life,” say the two.

They are accompanied musically by Jonas Landerschier (keyboard), Jörg Sander (guitar) and Lieven Brunckhorst (saxophone, percussion). Tickets cost between 43 and 69 euros and are here available.
