Benfica-Juventus will be played without goal-line technology

Tonight at the Da Luz stadium the tool to determine if a ball has entered the goal will not be available

Tonight’s match at the Da Luz stadium in Lisbon between Benfica and Juventus will be played without the support of goal-line technology. This was announced by UEFA, explaining that it was a technical problem and that it has already happened several times.

The introduction

The tool, adopted to check the validity of a mark, became fully operational in the Champions League in the 2016-17 edition and helped to solve the problem of ghost goals. The system used by UEFA is that of the Hawk-Eye: it uses seven cameras with a control software capable of monitoring the ball in the area, transmitting the signals on the referee’s clock. Serbian Jovanovic will have to do without it tonight and, as a result, extra attention will be required from the assistants.
