Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are making a film about Michael Jordan and Nike

Hollywood stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are reportedly directing a film about how basketball legend Michael Jordan came to shoe maker Nike. As the industry journals “Variety”, “Deadline” and “The Hollywood Reporter” reported, Ben Affleck (49) is to direct and play company founder Phil Knight. Matt Damon (51) is set to produce the film, co-write the screenplay with Affleck and play Sonny Vaccaro, who engineered the collaboration. According to the reports, there is no title and release date for the project yet. For the film drama “Good Will Hunting” (1997) the actors received an Oscar for the best original screenplay.

Jordan developed the shoe with Nike in the 80s. A pair of sneakers the rapper wore to the 2008 Grammy Awards sold for $1.8 million. In October 2021, a pair of Nike Air Ships shoes that Jordan wore to a game in his first season in the NBA was sold for $1.5 million at auction. (dpa)
