What a bitter premiere in the Champions League. Union Berlin loses 1-0 at Real Madrid in the last second!
In the 4th minute of injury time, Jude Bellingham (20) scores. A rebound from Valverde lands in the six-yard box, where the ex-Dortmunder just has to push in.
How bitter!
The Real Stars had previously failed because of Union goalkeeper Rönnow. He saves several big chances and becomes a giant for a long time! Rodrygo and Joselu have taken the lead several times, but Rönnow is always there.
Union is also lucky, Real hits the post twice!
First Rodrygo with a side kick (51′), then Rönnow directs a Joselu header onto the aluminum post.
Toni Kroos (33) initially sits on the bench for the Royals. He only comes in after 66 minutes. He completes more passes in 15 minutes than any Union player.
The Berliners get down to business straight away in their first game in the premier class. Tousart picked up a yellow card after just 36 seconds.
Then comes the best chance: After a pass from Leonardo Bonucci (36), who is playing his first game for Union at Real, of all places, Behrens is in front of the goal. He cannot take advantage of the opportunity (3.).
At the end of the Bellingham knockout!
There is stress before kick-off! The Spanish police initially did not allow many of the 3,840 Union fans who had traveled with them into the stadium. According to BZ information, the reason is that the police view a banner as “glorifying violence”.
