BVB unloaded its European frustration at Borussia Mönchengladbach last Sunday. Despite the 6-0 thrashing, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham still saw a lot of room for improvement.
Above all, it was the brutal efficiency that put Borussia Dortmund on the road to victory in the Bundesliga. While BVB captain Marco Reus was directly involved in five of the six goals and didn’t miss any chances, the foals were lavish with their opportunities.
“While things are going well on the offensive, we still have a lot of work to do when it comes to defending our goal,” BVB professional Jude Bellingham put his finger in the club media: “Greg (goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, ed .) was outstanding but we really want him to have less work to do. He’s had to thwart some really big chances.”
The Swiss keeper made outstanding saves in the first half, for example against Koné (23′), Hofmann (30′) and Neuhaus (36′). Of sport.de the summer newcomer received a grade of 1.5.
“It’s great that he can do it,” Bellingham said appreciatively, “but we want to help him so he doesn’t have to save so many shots in the first place. We’re working on that, we’re on the right track.”
Bellingham sympathizes with BVB star Reyna
Against the Rangers (Thursday from 9 p.m. LIVE on RTL and RTL +), BVB now has to chase a two-goal deficit. Bellingham said he could do it: “Definitely, we can score against anyone. We scored two goals against them last time and now we need two to equalize and three to go through if we keep a clean sheet. “
Bitter for BVB that the victory was marred by injuries to Dan-Axel Zagadou and Giovanni Reyna. Especially with the American it was “of course extreme, we missed him for five months. Then he comes back and he gets hit again”.
It was difficult for Bellingham “to endure his emotions at that moment”, but the Englishman was confident: “He’s an outstanding guy, a great footballer and he will definitely come back stronger.”
Praise from Sancho a “nice” sign
The 18-year-old, himself one of the best BVB players against Gladbach, reached a personal milestone with his 50th Bundesliga game. In the German upper house, only Bayer star Florian Wirtz came up with this mark earlier.
Ex-Borusse Jadon Sancho, who has been with Manchester United since the summer, was also aware of this, and he expressly praised his national teammate via Twitter. It’s a “beautiful” sign for Bellingham: “I always got on really well with Jadon when he was here and I still do today when we speak. He’s someone I can count on and he continues to help me .”
Sancho’s Twitter reaction shows “that he is still following us and how much he was connected here at the club”.
