Former Bayern goalkeeper Jean-Marie Pfaff believes Belgian national coach Domenico Tedesco will be successful in his new role.
“If he goes his own way with the right people who mean well by him, then I think he can do it,” said the 69-year-old Sky.
Tedesco had already proven his abilities during his “good times at Schalke and in Leipzig”, said Pfaff, who made 64 appearances for Belgium.
Pfaff believes in ex-Schalke coach Tedesco
“If you succeed, you’re always the right one,” he said. With Schalke 04, the German-Italian was runner-up in 2018. Last year he won the DFB-Pokal with RB Leipzig but was sacked a few months later in September.
Tedesco is “still young and you have to give him a chance. I think he’s very optimistic,” said Pfaff: “But you need the right people around you. And be careful not to take Roberto Martinez’s friends with you.”
Former Bundesliga coach Tedesco signed a contract until the 2024 European Championship on Wednesday. He succeeds the Spaniard Martinez, who announced his retirement after the World Cup preliminary round.
