“Belgian who stabbed Dutch woman to death in Delft confessed his act in a Facebook message” | Abroad

A 33-year-old woman was killed in a stabbing in Delft on Sunday morning and a 55-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman were seriously injured. A 31-year-old suspect was arrested in Belgium after a chase. The man would have known his deed on Facebook. The Dutch police are investigating the message.

The stabbing took place on Frederik van Eedenlaan in Delft, a city between The Hague and Rotterdam. Two seriously injured people were rushed to hospital, the third injured person died on the spot.

According to a photographer from the ANP, there was a lot of police present. The street has been cordoned off and black screens have been installed. The Forensic Investigation Service of the Dutch police is also on site for an investigation. Police are still investigating, but believe that difficulties in a relationship were the reason for the stabbing. The police are looking for witnesses.

After the facts, the suspect fled and drove to Belgium. After a chase, he could get stuck on the E19 near Schoten. According to the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office, the man will appear before the investigating judge on Monday. The Dutch authorities will request his extradition by means of a European arrest warrant.

Meanwhile, our colleagues from the Algemeen Dagblad report that the suspect has confessed his act on Facebook. “I stabbed three people including the person I loved. I couldn’t bear it when she left me. I’m not crazy, but everything was too much. Sorry everyone.’ [sic]

A police spokesman does not want to confirm whether the message comes from the suspect (31) who was arrested in Belgium this morning for killing the woman and injuring two elderly people. She does say that the detectives also know the message and are investigating it.
