Belgian tourists escape wild boar attack by climbing a tree | Abroad

The men camped on the border of the municipalities of Castellane and Rougon. They were sleeping around a campfire at night when a wild boar suddenly disturbed the peace and attacked them. The only way to escape was to climb a ten-foot tree, which the campers did next.

“There were hardly any branches on the tree, they had to cling to the trunk as best they could before reaching the top,” a witness told the French channel BFM TV.

The tourists eventually managed to call for help. When the police arrived, the boar was still frantically running around the tree, but after a while the animal decided to leave. The campers were fined €270 for illegal camping and for lighting a campfire in a restricted area.
