A 28-year-old Belgian has been arrested in the German city of Cologne. He is suspected of a double murder attempt after two men were found badly injured and covered in blood in a hotel room. One of them is in mortal danger. What happened remains a mystery for now. The police have launched a murder investigation.
The owner of Hotel Moji 2 in the Sieversstrasse in the Cologne suburb of Kalk raised the alarm with the police at around 10 am on Saturday morning. Shortly before, two seriously injured men had been found in one of the hotel rooms, completely covered in blood. A third man, a 28-year-old Belgian, was also present in the room, but he was unharmed.
The two victims were rushed to a hospital. According to German media, they had been attacked with a knife and had serious cuts. They both underwent surgery. One of them is still in mortal danger. It is not yet clear whether the victims are also Belgians. The identities of the victims are not yet known.
What happened also remains a mystery for the time being. Police suspect there was an argument. The 28-year-old Belgian who was arrested will be brought before an investigating judge today. He decides whether to go to prison or be released.
