Belgian state again convicted in Trabelsi case, possible penalty increased to 250,000 euros

The Belgian state has faced another defeat in the ongoing Nizar Trabelsi case. The Tunisian was convicted in 2004 for a planned attack on the army base of Kleine Brogel. The Brussels Court of Appeal now rules that Belgium must inform the United States that Trabelsi cannot be convicted a second time for the same offences. The possible penalty that is attached to it has been increased from 50,000 to 250,000 euros.
