Belgian mountain guide Peter (51) acquitted for the deaths of 19 hikers in India: “Now back to Belgium as quickly as possible to be with terminally ill mother” | Abroad

Belgian mountain guide Peter Van Geit (51) has been acquitted by the Supreme Court of India for the deaths of 19 hikers six years ago. The expatriate resident of the East Flemish city of Lokeren risked a life sentence for this. At the end of last year, he was in the news after he was allowed by the Indian court to return to Belgium for a while to say goodbye to his terminally ill mother. He now hopes to be able to travel to Belgium again as soon as possible to be with her. He says this to HLN from India.
