Belgian designer Igor Dieryck has won the main prize at the 38th International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Accessories in Hyères, southern France. The awards ceremony took place on Sunday, October 15th.
Dieryck beat the other finalists – Tiago Bessa from Portugal, Alec Bizby from Great Britain, Fenguyan Dai and Norman Mabire-Larguier from France, Petra Fagerstrom from Sweden, Leevi Ikäheimo from Finland, Jung Eun Lee and Bo Kwon Min from South Korea and Marc Sanz Pey from Spain.
Dieryck impressed the members of the jury, led by Charles de Vilmorin, with his unisex collection “Yessir,” which was inspired by hotel uniforms and Dieryck’s own time at the hotel during his student years.
He designed a yellow skirt and gloves with a fluffy headpiece meant to resemble a feather duster. Likewise, a fitted pink jacket and matching porter’s hat, paired with black trousers – all looks designed to challenge the idea of uniforms and the role of support staff.

But those weren’t the only awards for Dierycks: The young men’s fashion designer at Hermès and graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp was also awarded the Metiers D’Art prize and the festival’s audience prize.
Swedish designer Petra Fagerstrom has also received several awards: she received the L’Atelier des Matières d’Art prize and the festival’s sustainability prize. For her collection of simple technical clothing in black, she was inspired by her grandmother, a skydiver in the former USSR.
The top prize for accessories went to Swiss designer Gabrielle Huguenot for her conceptual collection of bags, shoes and jewelry titled “Artificial Flowers Need Water, Still.” The jury’s special mention in the area of accessories went to German designer Christiane Schwambach.
