There are three more West Flemish sportswomen in the top ten: Belgian Cat Julie Van Loo in eighth place with 66 points. Boxer Oshin Derieuw in ninth place with 63 points. And Red Flame Tessa Wullaert out of ten with 57 points.
You have to look a little further for the best West Flemish on the Sportsman of the Year list: ultra runner Charles Sabbe finishes twelfth with 80 points.
The Belgian Cats were European Champions in the Sports Team of the Year election for Antwerp FC and the Red Lions, our national hockey team.
In the Paralympian of the Year election Michele George narrowly defeated athlete Maxime Carabin: 341 compared to 334 points.
Finally, the title of Promise of the Year goes to the cyclist Alec Segaert.
