Belgian becomes Director-General for Climate Action at the European Commission | Abroad

Vandenberghe has been working for the European Commission for 26 years. The Belgian worked, among other things, at the Directorates-General for Transport and Research and in the cabinets of former Commissioners Philippe Busquin and Janez Potocnik. He currently works in the cabinet of President Ursula von der Leyen as an advisor for the European Green Deal.

From 16 January, Vandenberghe will take over the Directorate-General for Climate Action. This department supports the Commission’s climate policy and has been headed by Jos Delbeke since its establishment in 2010. He was succeeded in 2018 by Mauro Petriccione, who passed away this summer.
