Belgian activists who stuck to the world-famous painting ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’ must immediately go to jail

Belgian activist Wouter Mouton (45) will receive 2 months in prison, of which 1 month is conditional, after he glued his head to the famous painting ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’ during a climate campaign in The Hague last week. Mouton is a vegan who previously attracted attention with campaigns during the Tour of Flanders and the final of the Belgian Cup in football. He called the risk to the work of art “acceptable” in court, because he knew that there was glass in front of it. A second Belgian who filmed the action received the same punishment. The two now have to go to jail for a month.
