Belarus and Russia deploy joint troops for fear of Ukrainian attack: “Kiev wants to build second Crimean bridge” | War Ukraine and Russia

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko suspects Ukraine of plotting to attack his country. He told state news agency Belta. For this reason, Lukashenko has agreed with Russian President Vladimir Putin to increase the military presence at the borders.

Neighboring countries Belarus and Russia are implementing a new regional division of troops. “Due to the deterioration of the situation on the western borders of the Union state, we have agreed on the deployment of a regional grouping of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus,” said Lukashenko. The Belarusian leader did not say where the joint troops would be deployed or how many soldiers they would count.

From a Russian perspective, Ukraine lies to the west, for Belarus it is to the south. On the western border are Poland and Lithuania.

“Second Crimean Bridge”

Preparations are said to have started two days ago, on the day that part of the important Crimean bridge was blown up. According to Lukashenko, NATO and some European countries would “openly consider options for a possible aggression against our country, up to a nuclear attack”. He also claimed that Ukraine would like to build a “second Crimean bridge”.

Lukashenko is considered one of Putin’s most important allies. Russian troops entered Ukraine from Belarus, among other places. As against Russia, sanctions are also directed against Belarus.
