Before moving to Wolverhampton: VfB Stuttgart releases Sasa Kalajdzic

Before moving to Wolverhampton

The departure of the courted striker Sasa Kalajdzic from VfB Stuttgart is apparently imminent: The Swabians announced on Saturday afternoon that the 25-year-old would be withdrawing from training at his own request and for the Bundesliga game against 1. FC Köln (Sunday from 3:30 p.m Clock in the TM live ticker) free. According to consistent media reports, promising talks have been held with Wolverhampton Wanderers over the past few days about a transfer of the Austrian.

The player himself has therefore already reached a basic agreement on a change with the Premier League club. Sports director Sven Mislintat had already confirmed interest from England at the beginning of the week. “It is actually the case that there are the first interests from England, the Wolves are one of them. But that’s not really concrete on either side at the moment,” he announced at the time. Stuttgart is said to be demanding 25 million euros for Kalajdzic.

In the club’s history, only Benjamin Pavard (€35m) and Mario Gómez (€30m; both to FC Bayern) left the club for more money. In the event of a departure, Mislintat had announced in the “Bild” newspaper that he still wanted to improve: “With Sasa, we would definitely bring in an offensive player.” Fenerbahce’s Mergim Berisha and FC Bayern’s Joshua Zirkzee, who is about to move to Bologna, have been linked.
