Before EM 2024: Icelandic national coach Vidarsson fired

Probably the first manager to be sacked after a 7-0 win But it was logical, he no longer had any backing in Iceland. It’s a shame, because the team played football with him at least at times instead of just kick and rush, and sometimes it didn’t look so bad. I wouldn’t have fired him because there isn’t much more in the inexperienced and very young squad than what he got out of it. But expectations in Iceland are completely absurd, they probably thought it would just go on like it did between 2014 and 2018, regardless of the fact that there are hardly any players from back then (sometimes for bad reasons). Hopefully under the new coach, whoever it may be, they won’t just park the bus again.
