The catering industry in Breda will ask guests to give money to the food bank via special beer coasters. There is a QR code on the beer mat with which visitors can transfer an amount. The action ‘Give you a round’ is a collaboration between the Breda departments of Koninklijke Horeca Nederland and the food bank and will start on 2 September.
The food bank in Breda has enlisted the help of the hospitality industry. The organization wants to give food to 600 households in Breda, who are experiencing temporary difficulties, every week. Money is needed for that support and that is why this action has been set up.
“We have had 50,000 coasters printed with which we encourage people to donate,” says Johan de Vos, representative of the catering industry in Breda.
“We want to raise as much money as possible for the food bank. Pub owners and restaurant owners can sign up and then the coasters will be delivered to them.”
“We have to realize that a lot of people are having a hard time right now,” he continues. “I did not have to think long about the request from the food bank. When we were closed during the corona time, we were also helped by many people. So now we can also give something back. It is a low-threshold action, because everyone can participate. I hope we raise a nice amount.”
