Beer and reflection during the third day of the Wandel4daagse Alkmaar

A sip of water from the Runxputte at the sanctuary of Our Lady of Distress in Heiloo and a sip of beer at the Dampegheest brewery in Limmen. The walkers could use some moisture during the third day of the Alkmaarse Wandel4daagse. In tropical temperatures today the Pilgrims Route was on the program.

The start this morning at the Grote Kerk in Alkmaar started cool, but the temperature quickly rose. “We are lucky that today we have a route through the forest in Heiloo so that we do not walk in full sun”, says Jeroen Wouda of Le Champion. “We put up some extra posts where hikers could get some food and drink and they were gratefully used.”

For the long-distance walkers there was a beer ready at the Dampegheest brewery in Limmen. Although it was a bit early, it was well received: “This is a very tasty surprise”, according to one of the walkers. “That walking will only get better in a moment.”

There was also time for reflection at the sanctuary of Our Lady of Distress in Heiloo. Many walkers lit a candle in the chapel and of course some holy water was drunk from the Runxputte. “Every year I come here to drink some water and then it goes well all year round, no medicine needed and you run like a train.”
