Because Shirin David used a sample from Kraftwerk co-founder Ralf Hütter in “HOES UP G’S DOWN”, the musician had to remove the original version from social media around the New Year. The rapper shared this information in an Instagram story on Saturday (January 7th).

Her latest work “Bitches need Rap” was released in 2021. In the meantime she has released her iced tea and perfume and has entered into a cooperation with McDonald’s.

“Because Ralf Hütter (Kraftwerk) doesn’t want Shirin David to ride his Beat Jetski in the pool”

“HOES UP G’S DOWN” was released in 2020. Over the Christmas period, the track was replaced on all streaming platforms with a new version that retained the lyrics but David raps them over a new beat. Shortly thereafter, the music video, in which the rapper shows herself on a jet ski in the pool, was also made private.

The following Instagram post provides a small insight into the look of the removed video:

When asked, the musician explained that she had to change the beat of the track “because Ralf Hütter (Kraftwerk) doesn’t want Shirin David to ride his Beat Jetski in the pool.” The rights to one of the samples on the original version of “HOES UP G’S DOWN” seem to belong to Hütter. So far, he has not commented publicly.

The new version of the piece can be heard here:

Kraftwerk also recently found themselves in a year-long legal battle with Moses Pelham because he used a sample of her track “Metall auf Metall” for a song for Sabrina Setlur.
