‘Because of her people vote for BBB!’

Yvon Jaspers receives incredible punishment from Wilfred Takken, the TV critic from NRC. “Farmer Wants a Woman explains why aggressive farmer activists enjoy so much sympathy.”

She will be terrified when she opens the NRC: Yvon Jaspers. She is portrayed as a kind of danger to democracy. Someone who will ensure that our country is destroyed. The reason? She presents the program Farmer Seeks Woman, in which inept farmers look for a sweetheart.

Peasant myth

NRC journalist Wilfred Takken says in the newspaper that he is ‘concerned’ about Farmer Wants a Woman. “Because it’s not innocent. The program contributes significantly to the farming myth.”

He speaks of ‘the romantic, nationalistic image of peasant life as real life, as the traditional cradle of Dutch culture’. “As an endangered cultural asset that must be protected at all costs against attacks from the big city.”

Suffering animals

According to the NRC journalist, the cozy and cozy Farmer Seeks Woman is ‘in stark contrast to the large-scale agricultural industry in which millions of animals suffer’. “The popularity of the myth also explains why aggressive farmer activists enjoy so much sympathy and why so many people vote for the BBB party.”

And according to him, we can look to Yvon for that. Most BBB voters are ‘fed by the fairy tale of Farmer Wants a Woman, led by the farmer lobbyist Yvon Jaspers’, he says. “She once got paid a lot for that lobbying work. As far as we know, she does it without pay these days,” he sneers, pointing to her controversial nibbles.
