Because Flanders received more noise pollution as a ‘gift’ after adjusting flight routes: Flemish government has the federal government’s decision reversed

The Flemish government invokes a conflict of interest against the federal government. Open Vld, CD&V and N-VA are challenging a recent decision by mobility minister Georges Gilkinet (Ecolo). He would have shifted the noise pollution from planes landing and taking off from Zaventem. Flanders now experiences more nuisance during the day and at night, to the benefit of the Brussels Region, the complaint states. “It’s as if a convicted petty thief decides to start stealing cars.”
