A journey that began last January 16 at the institute for inspectors of Nettuno and finally concluded with the oath: «We have the honor of being the first athletes to be part of this magnificent world. It is not only a change in our lives, but a social and cultural change» said the fencing champion again.

The oath with 12 other Paralympic athletes

At the headquarters of the Italian Paralympic Committee (Cip) thus thirteen athletes, seven men and six women, were sworn in by the body of the State Police in front of the number one of the Italian Paralympic committee Luca Pancalli and the police chief Vittorio Pisani. The athletes therefore become part of the technical-scientific role of the State Policehired on a permanent basis as technical agents.

Carlotta Gilli: a dream come true

For Carlotta Gilli, swimming champion is a dream come true: «I joined the police in 2017 – she says – but I was only registered. When I went to talk to children in schools I said I was a fake policeman, because in the end it was like that. From today things have changed, now I am a technical agent of the police and this makes me extremely proud».

Bebe Vio and the others: an example of courage

The police chief also underlined that in sport not only medals count, but also the example of extraordinary lives that Paralympic athletes they demonstrate by calling them an “example of courage and fortitude”.

The oath is a “historic result for the country and not just for the athletes” because “it is a piece of that silent cultural revolution that the Paralympic Committee has been carrying out for years and I am proud of this».
