The animal is now in the Reception Center for Birds and Wild Animals (VOC) in Ostend. “The beaver will stay there for a while, because a resident said she sometimes saw two,” says Lien Depoorter, spokeswoman for the Bruges police zone. The beaver is said to be one year old and such animals should remain with their family for two years. “Dropping the beaver just like that would not be good, because another beaver family would not be so hospitable,” explains Depoorter.
