BEAUTIFUL JENNI | “With you Jenni”: the message on the wristbands of two American teams

The San Diego Wave and the Orlando prideteams from the United States Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), expressed their support for Spanish soccer player Jenni Hermoso by taking to the field in her duel on Friday with some bracelets with message ‘With you Jenni’, after the world champion received a kiss on the mouth from the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales.

Alex Morgandouble world champion with the United States team, and all the players from the two teams joined the reactions to a case that has monopolized the front pages of the major international media in recent days.

The first American soccer player to express her disgust at what happened was Megan Rapinoea legend of American soccer, current player for OL Reign of the NWSL.

“Deep level of misogyny and sexism”

“What happened made me think about everything we have to put up with. Think about the weight that the Spanish team had to carry. Some players who stood up last year [al protestar por el trato recibido por el entrenador y la RFEF] They are still not with the team. Maybe it’s something that galvanized them, but you shouldn’t feel that,” Rapinoe said in a recent interview.

“And there was another image that shows the deep level of misogyny and sexism in that Federation and in that man [Rubiales] after the final whistle, simply clutching his crotch. What upside down world do we live in? On the biggest stage, where you should be celebrating, Jenni had to be physically harassed by that person,” the OL Reign footballer continued.

Rapinoe referred to Rubiales’ kiss to Hermoso at the World Cup medal ceremony, in which Spain made history by winning its first title in the final against England.
