Beau van Erven Dorens is quite out of his mind: ‘Those typhus Russians!’

Beau van Erven Dorens suddenly got quite out of his head during an innocent item in his talk show. The presenter mentioned, live on television, angrily about ‘typhoid Russians’.

It is currently quite cold in the Netherlands and that is why weather woman Amara Onwuka sat at Beau van Erven Dorens’ talk show table last night. She said that it would get very cold at night, up to ten degrees below freezing point, and that during the day it would hover around freezing point.

Typhoid Russians

Beau then noted that this is not good news for people suffering from the energy crisis. “It’s sour, I just remembered, that we’re just sitting with those typhoid Russians that it’s so cold. That is of course for the energy crisis and the people who are sitting at home and have no money to heat the heating…”

For Russian Dutch people, Beau’s outburst will undoubtedly have been quite a shock. “Did he just say ‘typhoid Russians’?” tweets one Mark. And Nicky on that: “You’re just ahead of me. Yes he said that. How??”

‘I’m scared of this’

Beau’s outlier is also discussed in Hart van Nederland’s TV Talk podcast. Editors Pien and Daniël can laugh about it. “The tiefus Russians, haha. A nice ending!”

A little later in the broadcast, Beau also spoke about institutional racism and discrimination at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He strongly disapproved. “This scares me, Wouter.”

Journalist Wouter de Winther called it ‘shameful and shocking’.

Very cold

Back to Amara: does she have any good news for people affected by the energy crisis? “Well, I must say that this weather is like today during the day, then you can of course also gain a lot of heat by letting the sun in as much as possible. The days before that were really bad, because then you have a cold night and the sun doesn’t come into play during the day.”

Then it is just very cold, says Amara. “Nowadays everyone has those monkeys on which you can see how much you consume and that didn’t necessarily make me very happy. Now you notice with the sun that it is a little less unfriendly.”
