Beau van Erven Dorens hardly provides fun anymore headlines with his talk show on RTL 4. Just like the talk show Jinek, his program is also a bit out of favor. “He’s out of shape.”
They are undoubtedly at a loss at RTL 4 now that the late-night programs no longer score. The downward spiral started a bit when the guys from Today Inside appeared on the tube. Now that they show every evening that not everyone on TV talks with flour in their mouths, sitting through Beau or Jinek for an hour is a real ordeal.
Experimenting Beau
It is clear that Beau van Erven Dorens has recently experimented a bit with ways to win back the viewer, but according to Angela de Jong, they are digging their own grave with this. TV bosses often seek diversion, but Beau talking about nail polish for twenty minutes is possibly even worse than three minutes of Nikkie Plessen in Boulevard.
Beau pulled out strange antics again the day before yesterday, on King’s Day. At one point he called ‘the king’. It soon turned out to be Lucky TV maker Sander van de Pavert. The humorous conversation was cringeworthy, especially because the bored faces at the table were depicted.
“It looked like nothing!”
That TV clip is now being brushed off in Today Inside. René van der Gijp says in the broadcast from yesterday: “Yes, it seemed like nothing.”
Johan Derksen: “Yes, it was embarrassing.”
Wilfred Genee: “It was really uncomfortable.”
Johan: “I think Beau is completely out of shape. It doesn’t look like anything.”
René: “He’s glad he’s done, dude. He is happy that it is finished tonight and that Eva can continue on Monday.”
‘Truly awful’
Johan: “The subjects do not interest him. He’s there, he’s doing his thing, it’s really terrible.”
Wilfred: “Someone in the editorial office has to say: ‘Let’s not do this!’ Sander van de Pavert did this, didn’t he, from Lucky TV?”
Johan: “Yes, but he’s only brilliant once in a while, isn’t he?”
Wilfred: “You should especially look at the faces of the people sitting there.”
‘Very painful’
René: “Yes, it is very painful. It is really very painful.”
Wilfred, who is visibly pleased that his favorite direct object Beau is next: “Uncomfortable. That’s strange, isn’t it, when you’re watching that?”
