Beau loses confidence after hollow item about nail polish: ‘Very sad’

Beau van Erven Dorens had such a sleep-inducing item about nail polish in his talk show yesterday that even Nikkie Plessen would zap away. “What the hell is going on?”

It seems that there is only one thing that can save the late evening of RTL 4: bringing in the men of Today Inside, but it seems too late for that. After the collapse of Jinek, Beau van Erven Dorens’ show is also in heavy weather. The editors no longer know how to spice things up because of the craziness.

‘Beau follows Twan!’

Beau closed last night with a downright sleep-inducing item about nail polish. The result? With 488 thousand viewers, the presenter fell well outside the top fifteen viewing figures. The viewers who endured saw how the presenter had a B painted on his index finger: bore.

What does Angela de Jong think? She ushers in her infamous today AD column the emergency bell. ‘Have they at RTL learned nothing at all from the flops of Tan and Twan?’, reads the headline.

Twenty minutes

Angela points out that the nail polish item took a whopping twenty minutes. “I watched it in amazement. Who makes this up? Even the test image is more interesting. Do they just not want viewers at RTL or what about?

It’s a shame that Beau’s talent is wasted like this, she thinks. “Now he is feigning an interest in acrylic nails, polishes and celebrities who have been coming to Tilly for years because that is a ‘legend’.”

Capable journalists

The editors of Beau cannot be proud of this, says Angela. “I happen to know the editors of Beau (and Jinek), because I sometimes sit at the table there.”

According to her, they are capable people who know what is going on in the world. They would never come up with such an item themselves, thinks Angela. “What the hell is going on with the program and with the whole of RTL?”

Lightness

Angela wouldn’t be surprised if they were orders from above. After all, when the viewing figures of Humberto Tan and Twan Huys started to fall in the past, the response was also more light-hearted.

“History is now repeating itself.”
