Beatles: Mattel releases building set for appearance on “Ed Sullivan Show”.

The band celebrated their debut on the show 60 years ago – Mattel is celebrating this with a collector’s edition.

On February 9th, 60 years ago, the Beatles appeared on stage on the “Ed Sullivan Show” for the first time. The evening of 1964 went down in music and television history with an impressive 73 million viewers and remains one of the Fab Four’s great milestones to this day. Mattel has used the anniversary as an opportunity to launch the “Ladies and Gentlemen, The Beatles!” collectible kit from this gig.

Recreate the Beatles stage

The publisher of the 681-piece set is MEGA, a Canadian toy manufacturer that is part of the Mattel company. For the equivalent of around 75 euros, buyers will receive a replica of the “Arrows” stage, which was built specifically for the show, and it includes four 2-inch microfigures of band members John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr can be moved and whose instruments are interchangeable (if you want to do really crazy things).

The MEGA Showcase “Ladies & Gentlemen, The Beatles!” commemorates the Beatles’ historic appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show.

The beginning of Beatlemania

The Beatles’ debut on The Ed Sullivan Show marked the beginning of the “British Invasion” and sparked Beatlemania in the United States. There were more than 50,000 requests for tickets for the studio, which only has 728 seats. In comparison, Elvis Presley received just over 7,000 ticket requests for his vaudeville debut in 1957.
