Status: 06/13/2022 8:20 p.m

Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann reached the knockout stage unbeaten at the Beach Volleyball World Championships in Rome. At the end of the preliminary round, the Hamburg women also won their third game in Group I.

21-year-old Müller and 30-year-old Tillmann defeated the Brazilians Taiana Lima and Hegeile Almeida dos Santos 2-0 (24:22, 21:14).

On the other hand, Sandra Ittlinger and Isabel Schneider, who also train in Hamburg, had to accept their first defeat, but are still in second place in Group K in the round of 32. They lost to European champions Tanja Hüberli and Nina Brunner 0:2 (19:21 , 15:21). The Swiss remained in the preliminary round without losing a set.

Laboreur and Schulz have to worry

Chantal Laboureur and Sarah Schulz still have to worry about making it into the elimination games. The Stuttgart women conceded their second defeat with the 0:2 (23:25, 19:21) against the defending champions Sarah Pavan/Melissa Humana-Paredes from Canada, but showed a strong performance.

Behind the world champions, unbeaten in three games, and the French Lézana Placette/Alexia Richard (2 wins), the Germans are third in Group J with one win. In addition to the first and second place in the twelve preliminary round groups, the four best third parties qualify directly for the knockout round. The other eight third-placed teams will play for the last four places in a lucky-loser round on Tuesday.
