Karla Borger and Julia Sude were eliminated in the round of 16 at the Beach Volleyball World Championships.
The duo, starting for Düsseldorf, failed on Thursday (16.06.2022) in Rome in the round of 16 at the Canadians Sophie Bukovec and Brandie Wilkerson with 1: 2 (21:19, 19:21, 10:15).
After a strong start by the German hopefuls, Bukovec/Wilkerson increasingly took control. Borger/Sude then had no chance in the deciding set. It was the first defeat in the fifth game of the tournament for those third in the European Championship.
Müller/Tillmann hope to reach the quarter-finals
The last German hopes for the women’s World Cup now rest on Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann, who also meet Cannon/Sponcil (USA) in the round of 16 on Thursday (12:00 p.m.).
