Beach stuff not yet in the attic: next week possible tropical heat again | Inland

Beachgoers beware: Although rain and thunderstorms are driving most of the heat out of the country today, it could turn summery and maybe even tropical next week.

Today we have to deal with rain and thunderstorms, which will most likely end the nationwide heat wave of the past eight days. The heat wave could, however, continue regionally for a while. The showers can be violent in some places, causing flooding. According to Meteorologist Roosmarijn Knol of Weerplaza, it is not yet really cool, because because of the high humidity it feels clammy outside. “Certainly when the sun breaks through the clouds, it can feel five degrees warmer.”

Tomorrow will be a fairly dry and warm transition day, but from Friday the wind will turn to the west and we will have to deal with cooler air and showers. In the weekend it won’t get warmer than 24 degrees and it will ‘lap along’, according to Knol. It will be mostly dry on Saturday and the chance of a shower increases again on Sunday. It will also be changeable on Monday.

But that doesn’t mean summer is over. According to WeerPlaza, it will become drier and warmer in the course of next week. According to Knol, there are a number of weather models in which the temperature rises sharply again, even to tropical values. ,,There is a lot of spread in the models, so we have to wait and see. There are also scenarios with normal summer weather with temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees. Of course, it also depends on, for example, the wind and whether there is still heat coming our way from southern Europe.”

National Heat Plan

The National Heat Plan will no longer be in force from 09.00 this morning, the RIVM reports. Because it will remain warm in the coming days. the Institute for Public Health, together with the KNMI, will remain alert to new hot periods, during which the Heat Plan may have to be re-established.

This year was the second time that the National Heat Plan was activated. It was also hit in July. Incidentally, it is more common for the heat plan to come into effect several times a year. In 2019, the plan was even proclaimed three times.

The beaches and parking spaces at the beaches filled up last weekend:
