Beach Festival in Nieuwpoort Alive And Kicking again!
After a successful first day, the cover band Nostalgie All Stars, feat. Women on Top. Women upstairs, because after that it was up to Emma Bale, the youngest of the line-up, but in the meantime also a fixed value.
And then Anouk’s girl power was yet to come. She was clearly looking forward to it: “You are the first audience in years that listens and dances and is not just busy with the mobile phone.” Her big hits have already been sung by several generations.
After Steve Harley (& Cockney Rebel) the magic really started with Bazart. They had chosen their moment well, or as Mathieu Terryn himself said: “Wanted to play the support act for the Simple Minds at the setting sun? We are doing great!” Headliner Simple Minds brought their ’40 years of hits tour’ with them and every festival-goer on the meadow experienced at least as many memories with so many classics, which were seamlessly strung together without a break. The world record for longest “lalalalala” singing along to ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ was broken and Jim Kerr also managed to silence the entire audience during the same song.
Festival organizer, Peter Huyghe, looks back on the Festival with satisfaction. “The smooth and good cooperation between the various organizations ensured that the Beach Festival was a success, both backstage and for the visitors. Thank you to Stad Nieuwpoort for opening up this unique location.”
