On Sunday, Boxing Day, code yellow will be in effect in part of the country due to the risk of icy ice. Earlier Sunday, the KNMI reported that this applies to the entire country, but that has been revised. The warning no longer applies to the southern provinces, but does to those in the center and north of the country.
It is expected that from mid-morning just north of the major rivers there will be a risk of slippery conditions due to sleet. This disappears after a few hours due to rising temperatures. The sleet is slowly moving towards the northeast and only reaches the north and northeast in the evening, according to the KNMI. It can remain slippery there until Monday morning.
Because people in traffic may be inconvenienced by the situation, the KNMI advises that they adjust their driving behaviour. It is also recommended that they follow weather reports and any warnings.
