The Federation of German Cyclists (BDR) will start the Track World Championships in Saint Quentin-en-Yvelines on the outskirts of Paris (October 12th to 16th) with its successful sprinters and a core team from the gold four from Tokyo.
The title contenders are primarily women in the short-term disciplines. Emma Hinze defends her titles in the sprint and team sprint, Lea Sophie Friedrich arrives as the reigning world champion in the team sprint, keirin and time trial. The German men are among the extended favorites in the sprint area.
In the endurance section, the women’s four presented themselves in an unusual line-up. In Franziska Brauße and Mieke Kröger, only two of the drivers who were successful at the Summer Games in Tokyo are part of the team. Lisa Brennauer ended her career in August, Lisa Klein already ended her season.
European champion Nicolas Heinrich is hoping for success for men. Two-time world champions Roger Kluge and Theo Reinhardt are aiming for the podium again in the Madison.
