BC Oostende goes out in the quarter finals of the cup…

BC Oostende won the first leg. That does not mean that the men of Gjergja are resting on their laurels. BCO starts like a whirlwind and really plays Limburg United from pillar to post in those first ten minutes. The man at Ostend is Damien Jefferson. He soon has nine points to his name. We finish the first quarter at 23-8.

Limburg tries to nibble at that fifteen-point gap, but again Jefferson initially holds off the visitors. But step by step, Limburg United is following suit. With a good Le Suisse and Osunigi. 41-33 half way. Eight points difference.

General Djordjevic is in the house but he sees that Limburg United comes out of the dressing room better and does what BCO did at the beginning of the first quarter. Don’t forget, Ostend only lost one home game in the competition, against Limburg United. When Hailey goes inside, the visitors, from 16 points behind, take the lead for the first time. Van Rossom makes it 57-53 after the third quarter, but things are not going well.

Ostend has given Jefferson some rest, but that does not bother United. They climb to 57-58. Ostend has too many mistakes in its game and the defense is often too weak. The end of the match is extremely exciting. When Hammond scores 65-68, Limburg is virtually placed with two minutes left.

Within a minute United runs out to 65-72. It seems over and out. Deep in the final seconds of a real cup match, Van Rossom brings some hope with a masterful three-pointer with twelve seconds left on the clock. But United opens the gap to 70-78 on a free throw and knocks BCO out of the cup.
