Basketball Bundesliga club Alba Berlin and playmaker Jaleen Smith (28) go their separate ways after two seasons.
As the dethroned German champion announced on Thursday, the American has opted out of his three-year contract and is moving from the Spree to the Italian EuroLeague team Virtus Bologna. The guard won the championship and the cup once with the capitals.
“He’s done a good job of learning different playing styles and positions, making him a versatile player for any team,” said Alba sporting director Himar Ojeda. Smith played a total of 142 competitive games in the Berlin jersey, scoring 1590 points.
