The Niners Chemnitz have consolidated their lead in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). Coach Rodrigo Pastore’s team won against Champions League winners Telekom Baskets Bonn with 85:77 (39:38). With 14 wins from 16 games, leaders Chemnitz have now extended their lead over the reigning champions and pursuers ratiopharm Ulm (twelve wins, three defeats). Bonn, on the other hand, was unable to shorten the gap to the direct play-off places.
Chemnitz’s efforts in the 88:58 win in the Europe Cup on Wednesday evening against ZZ Leiden before the break against a rested Telekom Baskets were noticeable; it turned into a close game. Immediately after the break, the guests took a decisive lead with a 12:3 run. The Niners’ best thrower was Aher Uguak with 22 points, while center Thomas Kennedy (26) scored most often for the Baskets.
